As we wrap up October and our focus on Manufacturing and Cybersecurity Awareness, what better time to shine a spotlight on the students who are preparing for high-tech, high-demand careers in these fast-growing industries? Across our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, students are exploring pathways that combine innovation, technology, and hands-on learning to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.
In our local high schools, students in programs like Applied Cybersecurity and Engineering in Manufacturing are getting real-world experience using the same tools and technologies found in today’s industries. From learning to design and program systems to protecting digital networks from cyber threats, these students are mastering the skills that power the modern workforce.
Through CTE, they aren’t just learning about technology—they’re using it to solve problems, work collaboratively, and think critically. Whether it’s coding security systems, using 3D printers for rapid prototyping, or exploring robotics and automation, these experiences are helping students turn curiosity into career confidence.
Careers in advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity are growing rapidly across Florida and the nation. According to Lightcast’s 2024 Workforce Report, Florida continues to rank #1 in attracting and developing a skilled workforce, driven by industries that rely on technology and innovation. Locally, demand for skilled technicians, cybersecurity specialists, and manufacturing engineers continues to rise as employers seek well-trained, problem-solving professionals.
CTE programs like those offered at Bay High and Mosley High help students earn industry certifications, gain hands-on experience, and even connect with local employers through internships and mentorships. These opportunities ensure our students graduate ready to take on the challenges of a high-tech world.
This month, we celebrate students like those in our cybersecurity and manufacturing programs—innovators who are already shaping the future of work. Their dedication, creativity, and drive show that the next generation of the workforce is ready to lead with skill and purpose.
Manufacturing Month and Cybersecurity Awareness Month remind us how essential it is to prepare students for a rapidly changing world. By supporting CTE programs, local businesses, parents, and community members help build strong pathways from the classroom to the workplace—ensuring every student has the chance to succeed in an innovative and rewarding career.
