Express Scripts Pharmacy
This is a reminder that effective January 1, 2025, Express Scripts will be managing our prescription plan. You will receive new Express Scripts ID cards in the mail. This means you will have a Florida Blue ID card for your healthcare coverage and an Express Scripts card for your prescription coverage. You will need to update your pharmacy (local retail and mail-in) with your new prescription card information for all prescriptions picked up after January, 1, 2025. If the pharmacy runs your Florida Blue card for prescriptions after that day, it will show that you do not have coverage. The pharmacy will be able to run again with your new Express Scripts card information.
If you do not receive your new card before you need it, call Express Scripts at 800-957-7259 for assistance getting your Member ID Number. Then, download the Express Scripts app and Register. You will then be able to see a digital copy of your ID card. Please see attached flyer.
To ensure a smooth transition, we have included important information below on what to expect, tips for a successful transition, and answers to frequently asked questions.
What to Expect/Tips:
- • Upcoming Refills:We recommend that you fill any upcoming refills before the transition. While all remaining refills will be transferred to Express Scripts from Florida Blue, we advise you fill
them now to avoid any potential disruption. E xception: Open refills for controlled substances are not permitted for transfer. Please contact your physician to write a new script for any fills after 01/01/2025.
- • Prior Authorization and Step Therapy: These requirements will apply as necessary. There will be a 90-day grace period at the beginning of the year to allow you and your family to determine with Express Scripts if your medication requires authorization or step therapy. If it does, please work with your doctor to submit the necessary authorization to Express Scripts.
- • Access Your Account: Once you receive your new card, please register for an account via the Express Scripts mobile app or online at express-scripts.com. This will allow you to search in-network pharmacies, view the formulary to see covered medications, drug tier, and any prior authorization or step therapy requirements.
- • Mail-In Pharmacy: You will need to request all Mail-In prescriptions to be filled with Express Scripts. Utilizing Amazon Pharmacy will no longer be an option.
